A hidden gem just
a few kilometres from you

Located in the heart of the Indian Ocean, Rodrigues Island is a true natural gem. With its 109 km2 of unspoilt nature and 44,000 inhabitants, this island, the smallest of the Mascarene Archipelago Islands along with Mauritius and Reunion, offers a green setting of breathtaking beauty. Its immense lagoon, twice the size of the island itself, is one of its greatest wonders.
Dotted with majestic mountains, lush green valleys, turquoise lagoons and mysterious caverns, Rodrigues is an invitation to explore and escape. Its shallow lagoon is home to several paradise islets, such as Chat and Cocos Islands, just waiting to be discovered by the most adventurous visitors.
Although administratively linked to the Republic of Mauritius, this discrete island has enjoyed autonomous status since 2002, allowing it to preserve its authenticity.
Rodrigues,
intensely nature
Just 560 kilometres off the coast of Mauritius, a little over an hour by plane, lies an island whose rugged beauty and authenticity will win you over. Le Clézio said that there was ‘an impression of slowness, of remoteness, of strangeness from the world of ordinary men that makes one think… of eternity, of the infinite.
The small size of Rodrigues means you can visit it on foot, guided by locals, who know the best hikes that will suit your mood: primary forests, secret coves, steep slopes and nature reserves on par with the finest in the world.
The island and its inhabitants are committed to preserving its unique natural environment as well as its endemic fauna and flora. Single-use plastic has been banned for more than 10 years. Rodrigues is also exemplary in its cleanliness, and many of its people favour food self-sufficiency, growing their own fruits and vegetables while also feeding their animals.

A simple and friendly
art of living
In Rodrigues, every moment is cherished intensely. The locals take the time to appreciate life, to breathe and to enjoy the wonders offered by the island’s generous nature. Living very simply, the people of Rodrigues are kind and endowed with an unparalleled sense of hospitality that will charm you and make you feel right at home.
A trip to the market in Port-Mathurin, the island’s capital in the North, will be enough to confirm this. A mythical place with a unique folklore, you will meet locals there who will introduce you to the authentic flavours of this island, as well as their impressive craft skills. You will definitely have some unforgettable memories!
